Facebook Story Downloader
Save Facebook Stories (video and photo) before they disappear. Free, no login, on any device.
A Facebook Story downloader for video and photo Stories
SnapSave is a free Facebook Story downloader for the photos and videos posted to a Facebook Story. Paste a public Story link into the box at the top of this page, choose video (MP4) or photo (JPG), and save it before it disappears. No app, no account, no watermark.
A Facebook Story vanishes 24 hours after it goes up, so if there’s one you want to keep, you have to save it while it’s still live. SnapSave reads the Story link you paste and pulls the original photo or video straight from Facebook at full quality. It works with public Stories, the ones anyone can open without logging in.
Stories arrive as a short video or a single photo, and Facebook stores them in a way a normal long-press won’t save. SnapSave handles both and gives you a clean MP4 or a full-size JPG. Save your own Stories, content from public Pages, or Stories you have permission to keep.
How to download a Facebook Story in three steps
From the Story link to a saved file in under a minute, with nothing to install.
Open the Story and copy its link
Open the Story you want to keep, tap the menu (the three dots) or Share, and choose Copy link.
Paste it into SnapSave
Drop the link into the box at the top of this page and press Download. SnapSave reads the Story and finds the photo or video inside.
Save the photo or video
Choose the MP4 for a video Story or the JPG for a photo Story, and it saves straight to your device.
Save a Facebook Story before it disappears
Video or photo, in one paste, at the quality it was posted, before the 24-hour window closes.
Story videos → MP4
Save a Story’s video clip as MP4 at full quality, with the sound included, before the 24-hour window closes.
Story photos → full-size JPG
Pull a Story photo at the resolution it was posted, not a blurry screenshot. One paste gives you a clean image.
Sound & more
Lift the audio from a Story video as MP3, or save Reels and longer Facebook videos with the matching tools.
We don’t log your links or keep your files
SnapSave has no account to sign into, no history of what you’ve saved, and no copy of your Story left on a server. The Facebook Story downloader is anonymous to use.
Your link is pulled from Facebook’s own servers and handed to your device, then it’s gone. No upload step, nothing parked on a disk, and no log tied to you.
Facebook Story formats and quality
Original quality in, original quality out, with no re-encoding and no watermark.
| Source on Facebook | What SnapSave gives you | Quality |
|---|---|---|
| Story video | MP4 (H.264 / AAC) | Original, with sound |
| Story photo | JPG | Full resolution, no recompression |
| Audio from a Story video | MP3 | Pulled from the sound |
Save a Facebook Story the right way
Stories don’t stick around, so a few habits help you catch them in time.
Save it within 24 hours
A Facebook Story is gone a day after it’s posted. Once it expires, no tool can bring it back, so grab it while it’s still live.
Copy the link from the open Story
Open the Story first, then use the menu or share button to copy its link. A link copied from somewhere else may not point to the right Story.
Public Stories only
SnapSave saves Stories that are public, like those from public Pages, or your own. It won’t open a Story that’s limited to a private audience.
If a download stalls, refresh and retry
A dropped connection happens. Reload the page, paste the link again, and most stalled downloads finish on the second go.
What makes SnapSave a better Facebook Story downloader
Both photo and video Stories, at full quality, with nothing to install.
Video and photo Stories
One tool saves both, an MP4 for a video Story and a full-size JPG for a photo Story.
Full quality, not a screenshot
You get the original file, sharp and uncropped, instead of a blurry screen grab.
No watermark, original media
The Story you save has no logo or overlay added, just the original photo or video the way it was posted.
Free, with no sign-up
No account, no email, no daily limit. Save as many public Stories as you like, the Story downloader stays free.
Works on every device
iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chromebook, any modern browser, with no app to maintain.
Private to use
No record of the Stories you save, and never a request for your Facebook login.
How to save a Facebook Story on any device
Open the Story, copy, paste, save, the routine is the same everywhere. Only the place the file lands changes.
iPhone & iPad iOS
Copy the Story link, open SnapSave in Safari, paste, and save. Photos and videos land in Files → Downloads, ready to move to your camera roll.
Android Chrome
Copy the Story link, open SnapSave in Chrome, paste, and tap download. The file lands in your Downloads folder and most gallery apps pick it up.
Windows PC
Paste the Story link into SnapSave and click download. The photo or video saves to your default Downloads folder, usually C:UsersYourNameDownloads.
Mac macOS
Same flow, copy the link, paste, save. The file goes to ~/Downloads, and SnapSave works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Brave and Arc.
Chromebook & Linux
Identical steps: open the Story, copy, paste, save. Files save to your Downloads folder and show up in the Files app on Chromebook or your file manager on Linux.

What SnapSave won’t do
Public Stories only, and a few things stay off the table on purpose.
Open private Stories
SnapSave only saves Stories that are public. A Story shared with a limited audience, or one that needs a login, stays off-limits, by design.
Track or notify anyone
SnapSave is a saving tool, not a way to spy on people. Respect privacy and only save Stories you have the right to keep.
Keep your downloads
The file goes from Facebook to your device. Nothing stays with us, so there’s nothing to “delete later”, it was never kept.
Ask for your Facebook login
SnapSave never needs your password or your account. If a Facebook Story downloader wants you to sign in, close the tab.
Add tracking or a watermark
You get the original Story photo or video as Facebook stored it, unaltered, nothing added.
Help you reuse content you don’t own
Saving someone else’s Story to republish or sell, without permission, isn’t what this is for. Keep it to your own Stories, public-domain content, or Stories you’re allowed to save.
Facebook Story downloader, frequently asked questions
What is a Facebook Story?
A Facebook Story is a short photo or video that appears at the top of the app and disappears 24 hours after it’s posted. SnapSave lets you save public Stories before they expire.
Is the Facebook Story downloader free?
Yes, completely free with unlimited downloads. No signup, no email and no daily cap. A few light ads keep it running.
Can I save both Story videos and photos?
Yes. SnapSave saves a video Story as an MP4 and a photo Story as a full-size JPG, from the same paste.
How long do I have to save a Story?
Until it expires, 24 hours after it was posted. Once a Story is gone from Facebook, no tool can recover it, so save it while it’s live.
Can SnapSave save private Stories?
No. SnapSave only saves Stories that are public. A Story limited to a private audience, or one that needs a login to view, isn’t supported, by design.
Will the person know I saved their Story?
Facebook lets a Story’s owner see who viewed it. SnapSave doesn’t change that. It’s meant for saving public Stories or your own, so always respect people’s privacy and only save what you have the right to.
Is it legal to download a Facebook Story?
Saving your own Stories, public-domain content, or Stories you have permission to keep is generally fine. Saving and reusing someone else’s content without permission is not. You are responsible for respecting copyright and Facebook’s Terms of Service.
Can I download Facebook Reels and longer videos too?
Yes, with the matching tools. Use the Facebook Reels downloader for Reels, or the Facebook video downloader for posts, Watch shows and Live replays.
Where do my downloads save?
On iPhone and iPad, Files → Downloads. On Android, your Downloads folder. On Windows, C:UsersYourNameDownloads. On Mac, Linux and Chromebook, ~/Downloads.
Does SnapSave keep a history of what I save?
No. There are no accounts and no history. Your link is used only to fetch the file, and nothing is stored on our side.
